Group H Profile
Group H Profile

We are technically left with only 4 full weeks before the whole world celebrate with us on the first ever biggest world soccer tournament to take place on the African soil. We scrutinized every group that is there, made our own assumptions and bets and today we look at the last group, group H!

Group Strength

The strongest team in this group appears to be Spain but Switzerland and Chile too cannot be undermined. This makes group H a somewhat tense group but it is not too difficult to predict who will make it to further stages. Spain obviously takes the bat followed by Switzerland and Chile doesn’t take too much of the back seat but their 12-year absence makes one wonder if they’ll be able to catch with the highest standards recently seen on this tournament. Honduras is probably the least frightening team since they are only returning for the second time.

Honduras

Honduras returns to the world cup tournament after 28-year. Their previous appearance was at Spain 1982 when they made to the finals.
They were reaching the finals of the FIFA World Cup™ for the second time them and unfortunately it was the last one unless we are in for a dramatic performance in South Africa.

Chile

Chile returns to the FIFA World Cup™ tournament following a 12-year absence. They will be making their eighth presence in South Africa.
Nevertheless, Chile’s road to South Africa was a ground breaking one as they finished second in the continental qualifying group, just one point behind Brazil. This translates that they may have been out of the scene for long only to return like a tornado.

Spain

Spain has taken part in the finals of 12 FIFA World Cups and has not missed a single edition since failing to reach Germany 1974. Above that, it recorded ten wins from ten South Africa 2010 qualifiers.

Switzerland

Switzerland will be appearing at the FIFA World Cup for the ninth time in South Africa and the team has reached the tournament’s quarter-finals three times before (in 1934, 1938 and 1954). This is the team that boasts of plenty of young talent with players like Eren Derdiyok, Tranquillo Barnetta and their goalie, Diego Benaglio. Even their seasoned campaigners like Alexander Frei and Blaise N'Kufo have a potential to turn table during the tournament making this team one of the most possible to go beyond group stages.
