Commercial Hospitality Packages Approach Record Sales
Commercial Hospitality Packages Approach Record Sales

The 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa has hit record setting levels with over US$115 million worth of sales, becoming the most successful hospitality programme in FIFA World Cup history – and the numbers are still rising!

In November 2008 representatives of MATCH Hospitality, a FIFA global exclusive partner for the hospitality programme, told the Board of Directors of the 2010 FIFA World Cup Organising Committee South Africa that over 50,000 2010 World Cup hospitality packages had already been sold.

FIFA secretary general Jérôme Valcke said, “FIFA is extremely pleased to hear that hospitality sales are far surpassing all set targets. The sales are going at a much faster pace than for Germany 2006 for the equivalent period. This is yet another indication of the attractiveness of the FIFA World Cup and it shows the strong confidence of the corporate world in South Africa's capabilities to stage a fantastic World Cup in 2010.”

The hospitality packages have been bought mainly by international businesses, both large and small. The packages offer high grade service, top tickets and special access to ensure buyers have an incredible time in South Africa.

Hospitality packages have gone on sale before 2010 FIFA World Cup tickets go on sale to the public. Tickets will be available from 20 February 2009 on FIFA.com.

LOC's chairman, Dr Irvin Khoza stated that the committee is pleased with the level of sales and the rate at which they are being sold is remarkable. The high numbers and broken record show that the world is excited to see the first African FIFA World Cup

If you are interested in hospitality packages for your company, MATCH Hospitality AG is the only company that is FIFA authorised. This means that only they can sell the special hospitality packages. If you are lucky enough to be part of a package you will get tickets for every match – not only during the 2010 FIFA World Cup but the FIFA Confederations Cup 2009 as well.

While 2010 still may seem far away for some, the excitement begins in 2009 for when South Africa hosts the FIFA Confederations Cup. The successful draw has seen ticket sales rise and now the countdown for the arrival of the world’s best football teams on African soil begins in earnest – and judging by the sky high sales of hospitality packages, the world is holding it’s breath along with South Africans. Let the excitement begin!
