Fashion explained and delivered to you Township style, in the township by the locals, that's the Soweto Fashion week for you. All fashionistas, bloggers and admires of fashion should not miss this extra ordinary event.

Soweto Fashion Week (Soweto)

When: Thursday, 21 November 2013 to Saturday, 23 November 2013
Where: Soweto

After the worldwide explosion of this prestigious event in 2012, Soweto Fashion week is back at it again! This year the competition is bigger and better but also tough, as twelve carefully selected designers will have to impress and show South Africa how high their talent soars.

Only a few of the twelve contestants will walk away with success on their shoulders, the opportunity to have their garments in international showrooms!

For most of these designers, making it big in the fashion industry has had them push through years of hard work and self dedication, the challenge of having to work with minimal materials and low budgets. Their chance to get noticed and revealed is everything.

Bearing Man Stainbank Cup 15km and 5km (Glenmore)

When: Sunday, 01 December 2013
Where: Yellowwood Park

This is a circular, city race with a difference. Almost five kilometres of the 15km distance is run through the Stainbank Nature Reserve with the first few kilometres being an easy run; flat in some place and downhill in the rest!

The race becomes a bit of an uphill challenge once you enter the reserve and hit the sand roads and trails. You will have respite from the summer heat though when running around the dam and through the cool, leafy tunnels in the reserve. Keep your eyes open for animals such as zebra, antelope, buck and monkeys. The last five kilometres are run through the shaded streets of Yellowwood Park. This race is known for the very festive watering tables and the enormous support from the residents of Yellowwood Park; live entertainment and a great party atmosphere await you at the finish. Walkers are well accommodated too with category prizes award in this part of the event as well. There are lots of other spot prizes for runners and walkers alike.

Entries are taken on the afternoon before the race and again on the day of the race from 5am. The race was first run in 1973 and has, over the years, become one of the most popular and festive events on the KwaZulu Natal road running calendar. There is a fun run.

Start: Yellowwood Park Sports Club, Yellowwood Park, Durban
