| Romance on a budget |
Whether the two of you have just met or are about to celebrate your golden anniversary, there are many things you can do on a budget on Valentine's Day. Here are some fun and romantic ideas that won’t burn a hole in your pocket. Do something that they want to do. If your partner loves romantic movies, but you hate them, surprise them and go on Valentine’s Day, it will make their day. If you don’t have money to go out, have a picnic on the floor. Use some candles and lay a soft blanket on the floor. Put on some soft music and have a romantic Valentine’s dinner on the floor. Make a treasure hunt for your partner. Start by e-mailing or texting them the first clue. Then leave clues all over the house of where to find the next clue. End the hunt by making a picnic in the back yard or going to a park for a picnic. Use your imagination and have fun. Have dinner at home. If you prepare a lasagne the night before, all you need to do is throw it in the oven. Serve it with bread and a bottle of wine, light some candles, play soft music and you are on your way to a beautiful night. Many couples spend a lot of money getting a massage at a spa for Valentine’s Day. People can also enjoy this luxury at their homes. Purchase a bottle of massage oil, dim the lights and light a few candles. Then enjoy giving each other massages in bed. Star Gaze. Get a book on astronomy from the library and see how many constellations you can identify. Bring hot chocolate and a blanket to make your star-gazing experience even more romantic. Attend a local sports game. If you don’t have enough to spend on a professional game then treat your partner to a game at the local university. Afterward, head out to a local bar to have a few beers or maybe even take your turn on stage for karaoke. Even if you’re not that interested in sports, your significant other will appreciate the gesture. Sometimes, the strangest attractions are in your own backyard. Instead of visiting the usual tourist attractions, check out places you’ve never seen. You could stumble upon something intriguing that you never would have known about otherwise. So you weren’t able to get tickets to see your favourite band. Why not support a local artist instead? Check out the Arts and Entertainment section of your newspaper for free or inexpensive local concerts and show listings. Spending the evening helping out at a soup kitchen or an animal shelter is a great way to strengthen your bond while helping people in need.
