Views : ANCYL seeks donations for Malema fine

The ANCYL is out and about looking for donations to pay a R10 000 fine levied on its president, Julius Malema. The organization said on Thursday Malema’s fine will be paid through member donations. ANCYL secretary general, Vuyiswa Tulelo, said they will mobilise young people to raise the money because Malema was acting on behalf of the ANCYL and not individually.

Speaking of where the youth league stand in support for Malema in this issue, Tulelo said Malema had already apologised to President Jacob Zuma for his remarks and would continue to apologise.

"The president of the Youth League has apologised from that day and has continued to apologise... and we will still apologise to South Africa because some of the things we say are not facilitating things," she said.

Malema appeared for an ANC disciplinary hearing last week.
During the hearing charges that were laid against him for publicly supporting Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe's Zanu-PF party, calling a BBC journalist a "bastard" and a "bloody agent", and singing "shoot the boer" after it was banned by a high court were withdrawn.

However, he was found guilty of charges relating to his public attack on Zuma for rebuking him in public, and in which Malema compared Zuma to his predecessor Thabo Mbeki.

Malema was then fineR10 000 which he would pay to a youth development project and was ordered to attend anger-management classes and the party’s p[olitical school for 20 days. Above that he was instructed to make a public apology to President Zuma, the ANC and the public in general.
