Celebs : Malema’s assets could be attached today

ANC Youth League (ANCYL) leader Julius Malema is looking for a last minute reprieve from the high court, to prevent the sheriff from attaching his property on Monday morning.

The court will be seizing some of his assets after he failed to obey an Equality Court ruling, made earlier this year.

Malema was found guilty of hate speech for saying President Jacob Zuma’s rape accuser had enjoyed herself. The youth league leader was then ordered to pay R50,000 to the organisation People Opposing Women Abuse (Powa) and to publicly apologise for his comment.

Malema refused to be recorded but told Eyewitness News he would not allow the sheriff to "take his stuff."

The Sonke Gender Justice Network’s Mbuyiselo Botha said they want the matter to end but respect Malema’s legal rights.

“We hope that the sheriff will go ahead in executing the judgment so that we bring this matter to finality. We should also respect Mr. Malema’s right to look at various legal avenues and we will also abide by any decision that the high court may arrive at,” said Botha. Source EWN
