Five children were seriously injured when a car reversed over them at the Abraham Hlophe Primary School in Katlehong yesterday, Ekurhuleni Metro Police said.

The driver, a woman, got out of the car and vanished.

A black Renault Clio hatchback knocked the children down at 11.20am, he said.

According to police, a witness saw children playing behind the parked car before the woman driver reversed and hit them.

The woman driver left the scene on foot.
