Manage Your Time

Time management is one of the hardest things to keep to. All of us, whether you are at home or in the office, we all need time management.
 

Time management allows you to sort out the things that you need to in a day without panicking whether it will be done in time. Time management will also give you the satisfaction of not worrying whether you will fit in all that you need to complete.

 
Organisation

 
This is one of the most important aspects that every individual needs to have. If you have an untidy desk and wonder why your time management is not working then you need to look in the mirror. The first step toward good time management is by cleaning up first.

 
If your desk is untidy then make that the first thing on your list to tick off. When you have a clean and organised area to work in you automatically feel better and end up working harder and better.

 
Remember that the less clutter you have in your work area the less clutter you have in your life. To be more organised, you should think about writing down the things that you need to finish by the end of that day.

 
Equipment

 
Your work computer, printer and fax machine amongst other things should be fast. You do not want to use outdated software and be spending most of your day waiting for things to load.

 
Do you have email? Whether work or personal email, try not to waste your time on checking your junk box. Make a habit of checking and addressing to emails first thing in the morning. If you leave things for the afternoon, chances are that you will not end up getting to it or lose some important opportunities.

 
If you find that you are always looking for your phone book and have numbers written on all sorts of papers here and there, then you need to get organised. On your computer, you can have an address book. You will be able to find and add numbers easily.

 
Commitments

 
A good motto to live by is 'Under Promise and Over Deliver'. By living by this motto you will be able to impress yourself and others by going the extra mile. If you cannot take on more for that specific day, then make that known and offer to do it the next day. One of the main reasons for stress and no time management is by taking on more things that you can handle.

 
Stress-free area

 
One of the main things one should do is try and keep your office stress-free. There are many different ways in which you can keep your office stress-free. Have plants in your office – a little greenery does wonders. Fen Shui your office – and find that things are working out for you. You can also play soft inspiritational instrumental music, light candles, etc.

 
If you manage to get these down to perfection, then you will be well on your way to a well managed life. Other than that, if you work hard then you should definitely balance that and play hard as well.
