Cellc's Boss Will Take ICASA To Court If..

Cell phone network company Cell c’s boss wants Independent Communications of South Africa to cut rates and event thretenes to take the body to court if they do not comply.

Alan Knott-Craig has warned that if ICASA doesn’t cut rates by the end of this year he will go to court if he has to, according to the report on Friday.

“I will use everything in my power to get Icasa (Independent Communications Authority of SA) to do its job,” Knott-Craig said.

“We have to protect our company and the industry. It is also in the interest of consumers.”

Mobile termination fees are the fees networks pay to carry other networks calls on each other, according to the SAPA reports they were cut from 56 to 40 cents last month.

Knott-Craig wants the rates to cut with further 10%,

Icasa spokesman Paseke Maleka told a local newspaper a review of the call termination market was already underway and would hopefully be finalised in this financial year.
