Birth Control Packing Error Leads To Recall
Open in new windowA birth control manufacturing company, Pfizer is recalling 1 million packets of birth control pills because there's a problem with the order in the packaging. This error could lead to unintended pregnancies.
There's a mix-up with
• Lo/Ovral-28 brand tablets
• Generic-brand Norgestrel
• Ethinyl Estradiol tablets marketed under the Akrimax Rx Products name. According to Pfizer, some of the pink placebo pills are appearing at the wrong time of month, when women are fertile. There is a complete list of the recalled pill's lot numbers on their company website.
This batch of recalled pills expires between July 31, 2013 and March 31, 2014 and should be returned to the pharmacy.

Authorities Blamed for Soccer Riot in Egypt
Open in new windowEgypt has announced three days of mourning after dozens of soccer fans were killed in a bloody riot that saw rival fans turn on each other. The death toll for the riot in Port Said sits at 74, with scores more injured during the Wednesday evening match in Cairo. The riot followed a match between Al-Masry, the Port Said home team, and the popular Al-Ahly, based in Cairo. It was the deadliest soccer-related violence since 1996. Many of the victims were crushed to death, others were stabbed or suffocated after being trapped in a long corridor, attempting to flee rival fans carrying clubs, knives and stoned. Egyptian activists are accusing police and military personnel of standing by while the violence took place, refusing to get involved.
