With the much hyped release of the second instalment of the Twilight saga, New Moon, being scheduled for the 20th of November, we thought we would add to the bloody celebration and give you some great ideas on how to have a vampire party. If you have read all the books at least twice, have the characters as your wallpaper and watch the Twilight DVD on a weekly basis and then discuss every detail with your friends - then this is a party plan for you!
Invitations
Send out an invitation with an apple or your favourite quote from one of the books. If you make the invitations yourself, you can glue on some glitter to give the invites that extra special sparkle that will remind fans of Edward’s dazzling skin in the sunlight. Specify on the card that your guests have to dress as their favourite Twilight character.
Decorations
You can hang a sign on the door to alert guests that they are now entering Forks. You could word it ‘Welcome to Forks’ with one arrow labelled ‘Werewolves’ pointing to the left and another arrow labelled ‘Vampires’ pointing to the right.
Purchase inexpensive posters of Twilight and hang them on the wall. All of the book covers are themed with white, black, and red, so that is a good option for a colour scheme. Be sure to scatter your copies of the books around as well. If you want to get really fancy, many stores now offer a life size cardboard cut outs of Edward and Bella. No matter what you do you, it should incorporate twinkle lights just as Alice uses them for multiple celebrations. Make a bloody candle by dripping melted wax from a red candle around a white candle. Fill jars with red, white and black sweets. These can serve as treats and decor.
Dress code

If you want to be a Cullen, put in your golden brown contacts, and put on your lightest foundation. If you want to be a member of the Volturi, try red contact lenses with black and red clothing. For the wolf costume, wear cut-off jeans and no shirt. If you are light skinned and dressing as a werewolf, try a spray on tan for the party.

Music
Every party needs music to liven up the atmosphere. For the perfect music try playing the Twilight Soundtrack, featuring artists like Paramore and Linkin Park. You could also play classical music like Clair de Lune since classical music is a favourite choice of Edward and Bella. You could also play the Muse album, which was Stephenie Meyer’s inspiration for the novels.
Food
You can try having some Italian food, like the Cullen’s were cooking for Bella when she first went to their home, or some mushroom ravioli that Bella ate on her first date with Edward. Candy Apples would make a great Twilight party treat. Red Punch looks like something Vampires would drink. It is easy to make ‘Blood Punch’ with some ginger ale and cranberry juice or even wine. You could make a ‘Bloody Fountain’ as a substitute for a chocolate fountain. Dye vanilla chocolate red with oil based food colouring and put it in a chocolate fountain. Serve with a variety of dippers including red apple slices. Another great idea is to have wolf shaped chocolates and cookies. You can also serve moon shaped snacks in honour of the book’s title. Use a lion and lamb figurine to top a cake or cupcake.
Games
You can play a charades style game where you take turns trying to imitate vampire powers. Other great options are to have a wolf howl contest, or a Twilight bobbing for apples. Give each guest a set of fake fangs and instruct them to sink their teeth into the apples to get them out. Make it fun by setting a time limit and the person who has the most apples wins. You can also read lines from the book and make guests guess which character it is.
Transform your venue into the mystical town of Forks and have a fabulous party where anything is possible!
