John Christopher Depp was born on 9 June 1963 in Owensboro, Kentucky. He dropped out of high school aged 15 hoping he would make it as a rock musician. He fronted a series of garage bands including The Kids.
His introduction to Hollywood was through his former wife introducing him to Nicolas Cage. His film debut was Nightmare on Elm Street. He became popular in the TV series 21 Jump Street, as undercover cop Tommy Hanson. He is known as an idiosyncratic, dark, and one of the most versatile actors.
