I don’t know about you but this whole Size Zero obsession is really getting me down. It started years ago but shows no sign of slowing, with models getting more emaciated looking by the day, living on a diet of booze, cigarettes and drugs. And these are the women we want to look like… why? They have no boobs, hips or ass… so come on guys; do you really find street poles sexy? Because if you ask me there isn’t much difference, so why don’t you go after real women? Women, who have normal figures and weights, but feel insecure because of slightly protruding bellies and bottoms.
Don’t you long for the days when real women ruled the world? When it was not just a pretty face but a mystique, an image, a personality that caught the world’s attention? The days of Marilyn Monroe, who was a size (shock, horror!) 12, or even Cindy Crawford, or Tyra Banks, who at the height of their modelling careers would have never even have looked twice at a pair of size zero jeans and oozedsex.
Let’s be honest with ourselves ladies, until we as women decide that we like ourselves just the way we are, whether we are a six or a sixteen, a zero isn’t anything to aim for. Why are women and even young girls so desperate to look like they are unhealthy? Is this kind of desperation to look skinny even mentally healthy? The days of the perfect size ten aren’t far gone though, because Hollywood and celebrities are starting to realize what Renaissance artists knew long ago: Voluptuous = sexy.
Think of all the bootylicious babes that hit Hollywood in the height of the skinny craze but still managed to become household name superstars. Jennifer Lopez, for one, is a successful singer and actress, whose curvy bottom made international headlines in the late 90s, starting a big butt craze that heightened the popularity of butt implants in women young and old as men finally admitted it: Big butts are sexy. There have even been songs composed in their honour, sing it now, “I like big butts and I cannot lie…”
Although the ideal model of a woman in a man’s eyes – the hour glass figure, is still popular. Yes, having large breasts and rounded hips with a tiny waist can still bring a guy to his knees. Just look at Scarlett Johanssen, whose body puts a Coke bottle to shame. Men find her busty, curvy look attractive, making her a face of our time. If you are a plus size woman you could still pull off the hourglass look with belts and corsets which are available for larger ladies.
Thankfully for plus size women there are more options for them out there. No more pseudo maternity type clothes with horses on them, or track suits, or even worse, trying to squeeze yourself into jeans that are too small for you. No way, designers are now cashing in on a market previously uncharted, and the results are fabulous! Clothes made especially for your womanly figure which will leave you looking svelte and ready to take on the world. Remember to always wear clothes that flatter your body, drawing attention to your best assets like your breasts or legs, or using makeup to highlight your facial features.

There is also the disturbing misconception that plus size women are unhealthy, because as much as society is obsessed with skinny women, obesity has also had its fair share of the spotlight. Ladies who have a muscular structure or are big boned or just plain big no matter how much they eat have suffered unnecessarily. Remember that anorexia can kill you just as fast as obesity, and no matter what don’t feel insecure just because you don’t look like a cover girl… it really is what’s on the inside that counts. Just be your gorgeous self, because what really catches the eye is that glow that comes from confidence, happiness and satisfaction.
