Everyone remembers their first kiss like it was yesterday. The way your heart skipped 1000 beats a minute and the butterflies in your stomach wouldn’t stop making you feel nauseous. Your tongue probably wiggled around, confused by what was happening but that was all in the past and you’re now a pro. Although you might think your kissing technique is like something out of The Notebook few actually realise the art of French kissing.
The French kiss, like the country it originated from, is an extremely romantic kiss which can either be soft and gentle or rough and passionate. Before you get to the spine chilling passionate kiss you first have to start off mastering the art of the soft and gentle French kiss. In the movies the guy would usually look passionately into the eyes of his lover, cup her face into his hand, lean in while puckering up and closing his eyes. Hopefully this has happened to you during a kiss but if it hasn’t at least be prepared to blow your significant other away with a kiss that will leave them breathless.

When French kissing part your lips slightly as if in slow motion – but don’t be dramatic. Opening your mouth like you are about to receive your daily bread is a major turn off and no one want to be swallowed during a kiss. Once your lips touch, slip your tongue into their mouth. Move your tongue around with theirs, the last thing you want to do is let your tongue sit there all limp as your partner would not appreciate doing all the “work”. Play around with each other’s tongues and not in the “I want to make you laugh” sense but the sexy “I want you now way”. Tilt your head occasionally to either the left or right while kissing.

There isn’t any particular reason why people do this but it could make things more fun changing the angle. If you want to make the kiss more enjoyable try wearing some flavoured lip gloss – the girls only of course unless guys want to. All you need to do next is just lose yourself in the moment.
There are a few things that can ruin the perfect French kiss. Bad breath is a definite mood killer so is onion breath. Before kissing someone, make sure you stay away from spicy food and garlic. Unless you’ve been dating someone for quite some time now, no one else will appreciate your bad breath. Smoking is also a ‘don’t’ when kissing, but this doesn’t apply if your partner is a smoker as well. Not everyone likes the taste of ash.
Once you’ve mastered the art of the romantic French kiss you can cause wars with your irresistible technique, but don’t go kissing every Tom, Dick and Harry in town as there are a few health concerns. Firstly if you kiss someone with a cold sore, chances are you are going to get a cold sore yourself. You can also get the flu from kissing someone and unless you don’t want to go to work for a couple of days just stay away. Another concern when kissing is STDs and Aids. Now although you can’t get AIDS from kissing someone you need to make sure not to kiss someone who has cuts and bruises on and around the mouth area. But don’t stress and get all paranoid about it just be safe even when kissing.
Kissing usually leads to other things for people who get lost in the romance of it all. But it doesn’t always have to be a home run if you don’t want it to be. Don’t feel pressured to do anything more than you want to and if you feel you just can’t resist try kissing in semi-public places. This way even if you are tempted there will be nothing you can do about it in that moment. Semi-public doesn’t mean you must kiss in front of the whole world. You might be enjoying the kiss but no one will enjoy watching you do so. Not every kiss will be the same, everyone has their own technique but as long as you stick to the basics you will be fine. And remember practice always makes perfect.
