Self Help Tips Most of us today aim to better ourselves in many ways. We work harder, we have more quality time with our families, and we try and do more for the community. In the end some of us even find the time to have some “me time”. Improving ourselves is a good type of therapy as well.

Embrace the day
Try not to groan when you have to get up in the morning. Wake up, open those curtains and embrace the morning. Eat breakfast outside – if you have the space – and you will immediately notice that you will feel happier. If you have a family, then breakfast is the time for everyone to sit down and have a good morning meal together before each one goes off to their own days. In the mornings, try not to be angry or shout as your mood in the morning sets your mood for the rest of the day.

What am I doing today?
Do you have a busy schedule and cannot miss or forget about a thing? If you have not already got one you need to keep a schedule for yourself. Write down absolutely everything that you need to do and tick them off as you go along. This will make your day easier and you will feel accomplished at the end.

Do your responsibilities take up majority of your time? If this is true you find that you don’t end up having time for yourself. Here’s what you can do: When you leave work at the end of the day – leave work! Most people go home and do their chores and robotically pull out their computer and start working again. Where is the ‘break’ time for you? Go out after work – do fun things with your family. Remember that although you work for a living – it does not have to become the reason you live.

Self Help Tips Give back
You can give back / be generous in many ways – money is not always the root of generosity. You can help out an elderly neighbour by taking them to buy their groceries’, or offer to babysit so that your friends can have a night out alone. These small things will pay off in time – when you need the help. It will also help you feel good about yourself and you may even learn new things about yourself.

Don’t try to change the unchangeable!
When bad things happen in our lives we automatically try to change it. There are times, however when we cannot change things but learn from them and move on. Things that we cannot control usually make us depressed. If you learn to accept and learn from those experiences then you will be happier.

Learn something new
Try something different and learn something new. It will make you feel good about yourself. Whether it is learning a new language or learning a new hobby, you will be able to fulfil that time you spend doing nothing.

Have you always wanted to go out and do things but were always scared and usually played the ‘what if’ card. Now is the time to live – so go out there and take risks. Face your fears. For example if you have always wanted to go bungee jumping but were too scared – now is the time to put on that brave face and go jump! Take a friend with you if you feel like you will not be able to do it on your own. You will feel like you would be able take on any challenges that come your way.

Now that you have the key ingredients to being a better happier person – go forth and conquer.
