At just three years away from 50, Carol Alt posed in Playboy and the magazine called her "The Most Beautiful Woman in the World". Who would cry for more when you have two Sports Illustrated covers, lucrative contracts with Cover Girl Cosmetics and Hanes and countless fashion magazine covers pleading for your face?
Don’t be quick to dedicate her lifelong career to the wonders of what Life Magazine dubbed as "Million Dollar Face", Carol’s rock-hard abs are what kept her body a diamond to scramble for. Should you wonder how she has managed to stay curvaceous for decades and resemble the looks of 20-something at the age of 48, it is all the wonders of what she calls raw food diet.
Carol started raw food diet 13-years ago when her career was heading to its tail as a result of her poor health. “My weight was ballooning, my skin looked terrible, I was developing fine lines and wrinkles, and I just generally felt awful,” she recalled, adding: “I was no longer projecting youth and health…and I could see my career slipping through my fingers like grains of sand!”

It was until a friend referred her to a doctor who recommended the raw food diet. Since then, Carol hasn’t had any kind of respiratory or allergy problems and has shrunk to shape naturally. Being on raw food diet simply means that she does not cook her food or eat processed one. Carol enjoys sashimi, raw milk products, raw eggs, and occasionally pan-seared meats and fish.
She believes no disease is terminal with the raw food diet. Having seen her friend diagnosed with cancer and pronounced cancer-free convinced her that eating right by eating raw is the best medication for any illness. “When I talk to someone with breast cancer, who refuses to give up chicken, or someone with terrible allergies, who refuses to give up wheat products, I tell them, ‘Look, you can take a pill, but that pill is going to bother your liver”
“Why don’t you just get to the source of all of these problems – the foods you consume and the various ways that food is prepared?” she wrote on her web portal.
Carol admits to have followed dozens of diets but find raw food diet the best. “I started dieting very, very early in my career. - I must have tried every fad diet in the book – I was constantly dieting and the end result was, oh, yes – I was thin enough, but I was also becoming ill,” she said.
More about the raw food diet
The emphasis with the raw food diet is to eat food in its natural state. When food is cooked, the enzymes contained within are destroyed whereas when we eat enzymes by eating living or uncooked foods, our bodies can use the energy and effort in maintaining themselves. In this way, our enzymes become more efficient and allow us to stay younger and healthier.
The diet simply requires one to eat only raw foods or at least 70% of it. Followers of raw food diet can be vegetarians, ovo-lacto vegetarians (milk and eggs included) and non-vegetarians. Milk and eggs have to be consumed raw as well.
Carol’s Workout
Carol runs on the treadmill and does other forms of cardio to stay in shape.
However, with Carol, the emphasis is on eating healthy and not just dieting for your body but your health too. It takes very little effort – not having to cook – but mostly, it will give you a solution to your health trouble that most diet would not address.
Well, I suppose, eat raw and stay healthy!
