Child 'Waterboarded' By Dad Over Her ABCs

 A US soldier has been accused of "waterboarding" his four-year-old daughter because she would not recite the alphabet.
Joshua Tabor, 27, allegedly pushed the child's head under water face-up in the kitchen sink at his house.
Tabor told a police officer he and his girlfriend "held her down on the counter and submerged her head into the water three or four times until the water came around her forehead and jawline", according to court documents.

Advocate Barbie showed remorse – expert

 Cezzanne Visser, better known as Advocate Barbie, showed remorse for the sexual acts she committed towards her victims - several minor girls and some adult women - an indication that her rehabilitation process had already begun.
This was the evidence of forensic criminologist, Dr Eon Sonnekus, who was the first witness to take the stand on Monday for the defence during pre-sentencing procedures. The 32-year-old Visser is expected to be sentenced later this week on the 11 sex related charges she was convicted of last year.

Africa: US freezes HIV spending

 Kampala - A US decision to freeze spending on treatment for HIV in several African countries has prompted concern that some of the gains made against the Aids epidemic since 2003 could be reversed.
President George W Bush's Emergency Plan for Aids Relief (PEPFAR), launched in 2003, focused largely on treating patients in urgent need of medicine, but the new US administration's programme has shifted away from emergency treatment.
"George W Bush is a hero in this country," said Peter Mugyenyi, who heads Uganda's Joint Clinical Research Centre, a leading Aids treatment clinic.
Uganda received $929m from PEPFAR between 2003-2008 and used much of those funds to provide some 150 000 people with Antiretroviral therapy.
